Interviewing a Pediatrician

You’re smart to be thinking about who will care for your baby was he/she is born. It’s a good idea to meet a few doctors in person before you give birth and learn about their practice and philosophy.

Ask around for recommendations or referrals.  Friends, family, your doctor/midwife, or local parenting groups are great sources for referrals. (Don’t forget to run candidate names through your state's medical board to check for any disciplinary action.)

In Colorado?  Sign up for a Bradley Method Class or Breastfeeding Class!

Once you’ve got a few names, it’s time to set up the interviews. The scheduler or office manager may be able to answer some of your questions around billing and insurance.  You’ll probably only have about ten minutes with the doctor, so ask the most important questions first. Remember, it’s important to find a provider you fill comfortable with and who’s care philosophy aligns with your own.
